Hikers, cross-country skiers, bikers, and every nature lover will find several excellent Wisconsin State Parks nearby to your stay at the Lakeside Motel in the Wisconsin Dells.
Just 1-1/2 miles north of the Dells you’ll find the 244-acre Rocky Arbor State Park. A quiet and secluded park with towering pine trees and sandstone bluffs. Trails are available to hikers and cross-country skiers during the winter months.
The “400” State Trail features a 22-mile trail that crisscrosses the Baraboo River. You’ll enjoy seeing the wetlands, wildlife, sandstone bluffs, and rolling pastures on this scenic hike. The trail is used for bicycling, walking, and snowmobiling.
Mirror Lake State Park features 2,200 acres and is named for its centerpiece, a lake which often is so calm that not a ripple marks its surface. The lake reflects a wooded shoreline with cliffs up to 50 feet high, a summer swimming beach, and wetlands that are home to a variety of wildlife. Just three miles from the Wisconsin Dells.
Devil’s Lake State Park is the most popular Wisconsin State Park. The park has nearly 10,000 acres of woodland, breath-taking bluffs, a 360-acre spring-fed lake, and over 29 miles of park trails for hiking and biking. 100 species of birds have been identified in the park, including screech owls, barred owls, great blue herons, wild turkeys, and the ever-present, soaring turkey vultures.
